Salvador Vázquez is currently the principal conductor and artistic director of the Córdoba Orchestra, where he is developing an artistic project that is being received with special attention by critics and the public, focused on the care of the orchestral sound, the solidity of the symphonic and lyrical repertoire and the construction of a unique artistic identity for the institution.
With a growing presence in the operatic world, he has conducted productions in various theaters, establishing a profile particularly recognized for his clarity of concept, his ability to articulate dramatic discourse, and his attention to musical detail. His debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza with Carmen was praised by critics for its strong theatrical sense, the balance between stage and pit, and the coherence of its musical approach, confirming his affinity for the stage repertoire. He has also received special recognition for his work leading the Córdoba Orchestra in the revival of Turina's Margot, a project lauded by critics for both its artistic initiative and the high quality of the performances achieved.
His work encompasses the symphonic and operatic repertoire, and has led him to collaborate as a guest conductor with ensembles such as the RTVE Symphony Orchestra, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, the Valencia Orchestra, the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, the Barenboim-Said Orchestral Academy, the Extremadura Orchestra, the Granada City Orchestra, and the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra, among others. His debut at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in 2023 with the Madrid Community Orchestra is also noteworthy.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with prominent soloists and singers, including Ainhoa Arteta, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Leonor Bonilla, Ismael Jordi, and pianists Jorge Luis Prats, Anna Fedorova, Vadim Kholodenko, Daniel Ciobanu, Martina Filjak, Martín García García, and Alexandra Dovgan, among other guest artists in symphonic seasons and operatic productions. Especially valued for his sensitivity to singing and his ability to create attentive and flexible accompaniment, he employs a working approach based on listening and artistic dialogue, aimed at enhancing the expressiveness and musical coherence of each collaboration.
Among her upcoming engagements, her debut in Mexico stands out, as well as her recording projects, in which she will present two new works with the IBS Classical label. These include a revival of Joaquín Turina's Margot and another project with marimba player Conrado Moya and the Córdoba Orchestra dedicated to the marimba concertos of Joaquín Rodrigo and Lorenzo Palomo. These projects reflect her commitment to promoting the Spanish repertoire and her interest in highlighting the richness and diversity of contemporary musical creation.
