Born in Graz (Austria) in 1961.
He studied with his father Rudolf Korp at the Innsbruck Conservatory, where he completed his studies with special distinction.
He continued his training at the Musikhochschule (University) of Vienna under the guidance of Professor Adolf Holler (principal trumpet of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra).
At the age of 17, he won first prize in the “Jugend Musiziert” competition, along with a special award from the Bruckner Orchestra in Linz.
From 1983 to 1985 he was a member of the Vienna State Opera Stage Orchestra.
Since 1985 he has been Principal Trumpet of the "Tonkünstlerorchester" in Vienna.
He has performed concerts and made recordings with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Rudolf Korp has also performed in concert, recorded and toured with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, Austrian-Ungarische Haydn Philharmonie, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Ensemble Die Reihe, etc.
He has performed as a soloist with the Innsbruck Symphony Orchestra, the Tonkünstlerorchester, and the Jeunesse Musicales Orchestra in Linz under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst, among others.
Rudolf Korp has played numerous times in concerts and on recordings under the baton of conductors such as Herbert von Karajan, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Christian Thielemann, Maris Janssons, James Levine, Sir George Solti, Adam Fischer, Fabio Luisi, etc.
In 1990 he was artistic director of the "International Competition for Brass Quintets and Horn Quartets" in Gmünd (Austria).
Rudolf Korp's teaching work has been intense, both in his home country and in various countries in Europe, Asia, and South America, teaching courses for both trumpet and brass instruments.

Since 1986 he has been a founding member of the renowned brass quintet "Vienna Brass", with which he has performed numerous concerts, recordings, brass courses, as well as successful tours throughout Europe, Asia, and South America.
With Vienna Brass he has performed at the following festivals:Wien Modern, Salzburger Festspiele, Ruhr Triennale, Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, Klangbogen Wien, Hörgänge, Wiener Festwochen, Festival Alpentöne, Festival St. Gallen, Schwäbischer Frühling.
