Department Coordinator

Coordinator of the Department of Jazz and Modern Music at ESMAR. Professor of Saxophone, Clarinet, Language of Jazz and Modern Music (multidisciplinary subject) and Combo.

Graduated in “Performance” (Instrumentalist) from the “Berklee College of Music” (Boston, Massachusetts), specializing in Tenor Saxophone (training in modern music). Graduated in Clarinet from the Liceo Conservatory (training in classical music). Master in Musical Research from the International University of Valencia.

Studies with internationally recognized musicians and educators such as George Garzone, Bob Mintzer, Frank Tiberi, Ed Tomassi, Joe Lovano, Jeff Herrington, Shanon Le Claire, Gregory Fritze and Jerry Bergonzi among others.

As an instrumentalist he has collaborated and toured with projects of different styles and cultures such as Revólver, Soledad Giménez, Armando Manzanero, Sheila D. Wheat (James Brown), John Serry (Grammy nominated), Wanda Jackson (Country legend in the USA who collaborated repeatedly with Elvis Presley), Trevor Murrell (Joe Cocker, Sade, etc.), Gabriel Schwartz (wonderful Brazilian composer and arranger), Sedajazz Big Band, Boney M., Michael Mossman, Jonás Trueba, Perico Sambeat, Carmen Woodruff, Teatres de la Generalitat Valenciana, Valencia Film Symphony Orchestra, Nacho Mañó, Victor Mendoza and a long list of musical projects of the vivid Valencian music scene.

As a studio musician and producer, he has recorded for a large number of artists, television, radio and various soundtracks in the world of cinema.

As a conductor, he has directed various Big Bands such as his own Josvi Muñoz Big Band (Pamplona Jazz Festival), Benifajazz Big Band (Toledo Jazz Festival), Ki Big Band (Tres Cantos Jazz Festival (Madrid), Torrent, Valencia, Bétera, Alzira...), Nou Mil leni Big Band, Sedajazz Big Band, UJI Big Band, Black Cat's Big Band, as well as other formations such as a symphonic band, smaller jazz ensembles, mixed choir and string ensembles.

As a composer, he has composed and arranged for many types of formations in styles such as big bands, symphonic bands, jazz ensembles, Brazilian music groups, popular music groups (pop/soul/rock), soundtracks (television and theater) and mixed choir.

As a great teacher, he has given classes and master classes in numerous institutions in our country and Portugal over the last 25 years. He was also the founder of several modern music schools and other educational projects through which literally several thousand students have passed, many of them currently music professionals.

He is currently coordinator and head of studies for the jazz and modern music department, as well as a teacher of various subjects at the Escuela Superior de Alto Rendimiento (ESMAR). Today, he combines his management and teaching duties with composition, production, recording and touring, either with his own projects or collaborating on projects of other artists and cultures.
