Drummer and educator from England. Currently based in Valencia, Spain.
She performs with the SongAh Chae Trio while also teaching at ESMAR and the Berklee College of Music campus in Valencia.
He studied at Berklee College of Music for his Bachelor's degree and earned a Master's degree at Berklee Valencia Campus in Spain. After completing his Master's degree, he became a professor at the same campus and released his debut album, Crisis. Wheatley released his second album, Joshua Wheatley 5tet Live at Jimmy Glass, a few years later.
As the drummer for the SongAh Chae Trio, he has collaborated on masterclasses at the Julián Orbón Avilés Conservatory in Asturias and Berklee in Valencia. Wheatley performed with the trio at the London Jazz Festival in 2023 and recorded the album In the Beginning. Following the album's release in January 2024, the trio toured Spain, performing at the Circulo Bellas Artes in Madrid, Bilbao, Málaga, Seville, and Valencia. In 2025, the trio released the album Calling in the Wilderness. Wheatley continues to perform with the trio throughout Europe.
Drum lessons focus on developing a foundation in drumming, based on the traditions of American jazz from 1945 to 1960 and the evolution of European jazz style since 1960. In addition to a jazz foundation, I teach a pop/gospel approach that evolved in US churches and live contemporary pop concerts..
