Orchestra director
Born in 1983, he graduated in horn, music education, and composition from the "G. Martucci" Conservatory in Salerno and in piano from the "N. Piccinni" Conservatory in Bari. He studied conducting with Nicola Hansalik Samale, Piero Bellugi, and Vittorio Parisi, graduating from the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Milan with the highest grades cum laude. He attended masterclasses and advanced courses in orchestral conducting at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Gianluigi Gelmetti and in Liège at the Opera Royale de Wallonie with Paolo Arrivabeni.
He has published several works including compositions, orchestrations and essays, including Paride, Festa Moveable, Messa S.Cecilia, Messa S.Francesco, Il Paesaggio Evocato, etc. Since 2016 he has been composing for Da Vinci Publishing, with whom he has published four works for orchestra: La Voce a Te giusta, Movimento Sinfonico, La Stanza dei Burattini (orchestration of the piano suite of the same name by Oderigi Lusi), French Songs (orchestration of French chamber lyrics by Debussy, Pierné, Dure, Weill) and two chamber music works Short Piece for horn quartet and Anthesis VI for solo saxophone. In 2022, Et Cetera Musica editions and musical scores published two essays on musical analysis and aesthetics on Gustav Mahler and Ludwig van Beethoven and the lyrics for soprano and chamber orchestra “Partiamo questo notte”. Among the various awards and recognitions received, it is worth mentioning third place in the composition competition organized by Vocalia Opera, which calls for a commission for a contemporary work, and the critics' award in the Francesco Pagano composition competition for the work for voice and ensemble Gli Esuli Tebani.
As a conductor, he is invited to festivals and concerts in Italy and abroad, performing in numerous theaters and concert halls. From 2015 to 2016, he was regularly assistant conductor and substitute conductor at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno and the Royal Opera of Wallonia in Liège, having the opportunity to oversee several opera productions. In parallel to his concert activity, he has also developed a recording activity. In fact, in 2017, his first two recordings leading the Orchestra Filarmonica Campana with the music of Oderigi Lusi were released: Il Nuovo Innamorato (a one-act ballet for orchestra) and Sinfonia Abellana (a symphonic poem for soloists, chorus, and large orchestra) on DVD, published by Da Vinci Publishing. In 2020, La Stanza dei Burattini was released on vinyl and digital platforms, recorded with the Orchestra Pergolesi of Milan for the NovaRecords label.
Among the orchestras he has conducted are: Alfaetnea Orchestra, Ensemble Contemporaneo Symphony Orchestra, Sarno Valley Orchestra, I Pomeriggi Musicali, Milan Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra of New York, Opera Royal de Wallonie of Liège, Venice Chamber Orchestra, Apulia Philharmonic Orchestra, Pergolesi Orchestra of Milan, Castelbuono Classica Symphony Orchestra, Moshavot Israel Chamber Orchestra of Tel Aviv, Asti Symphony Orchestra, Foggia Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, Julia Carbonell Symphony Orchestra of Lleida (Spain), Kodaly Philharmonic Orchestra (Hungary), Pazardzhik Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria), Claudio Santoro National Theatre Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, Orchestra Sibiu State Philharmonic (Romania), Dolnośląskiej Philharmonic Orchestra in Jeleniej Górze (Poland). In Naples in 2022 he conducted the Baroque music project Civiltà Musicali del 700' Napoletano with the early instrument ensemble Corrispondenze Armoniche, while in 2024 for “Napoli Città della Musica” he was the protagonist of the Italian Opera meets Jazz project with workshops, open rehearsals and concerts at the “Porta del Parco” Auditorium in Bagnoli alongside pianist Mike del Ferro and soprano Claron McFadden.
In the 2024/2025 season, he will make his podium debut with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (Canada) and the Marienbad Chopin Festival Orchestra (Czech Republic).
He was artistic director of the Collegium Vocale Salernitano (2006-2012), of the International Prize for Religious Literature, music section (2007-2008), of the Review of shows and musical suggestions of the Riflessi d'Arte Exhibition (2013-2018), of the Pergolesi Orchestra of Milan (2018-2020) and of the Teatro S. Alfonso in Pagani (2019-2021). He is the founder of the Campana Philharmonic Orchestra (2006), where he currently serves as artistic and musical director. With over 200 concerts under his belt, this orchestra has entered a new era, characterized by growing national and international interest aroused by new concert productions, recordings, audiovisual projects and international tours. In fact, leading this orchestra, in 2019 he toured China, performing in some of the most prestigious theaters and concert halls, in cities such as Henan, Shanghai, Chongqing, Zhuhai, Nanning, Tangshan, and Zibo on a 28-concert tour dedicated to Italian opera. He is a professor of Music Theory, Rhythm, and Perception at the S. Giacomantonio Conservatory in Cosenza.
