Solo Oboe

Born in 1976 in Valencia, he began his musical studies at the age of 9 at the School of Music and Performance in Paiporta, where his oboe teacher was Luis Grau. Later he moved to the “Joaquín Rodrigo” Conservatory of Music in Valencia, where he studied the Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced Levels with the teachers Jesús Fuster and Francisco Salanova, obtaining the Extraordinary Prizes at the end of the Elementary and Intermediate Levels and the Honorable Mention in the End of Degree Award.

During the period 1999/2001 he worked as a teacher at the Escola Profissional de Música de Viana do Castelo (Portugal).

In 2002 he moved to Leipzig, where he studied until 2004 at the Musikhochschule für Musik und Thataer “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” with oboe professor Christian Wetzel. After joining the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, he played with conductors such as Ricardo Chailly, Herbert Blomsted, Daniel Harding and Charles Dutoit and with soloists such as Frank-Peter Zimmerman, Leonidas Kavakos and Kim Kashkasian. With the Gewandhausorchester he toured Japan and Korea and recorded an album for Deutsche Gramophon. In Leipzig he regularly collaborated with the Bach Collegium Musikum and the Felix Mendelssohn Kemmerorchester, as solo oboe in both groups.

From 2004 to 2006 he lived in Salzburg, where he completed a Master's degree at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg with Professor Stefan Schilli. He has performed as a soloist in Spain, Portugal, Germany and Austria. After winning the annual competition organised by the Mozarteum Salzburg, he performed Richard Strauss's Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra with the Mozarteum Orchestra in the Grosse Saal in Salzburg at the prestigious Salzburg Festival, to great acclaim from the public and critics.

In the 2007/2008 season he was a member of the Symphonierorchester des Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich as solo oboe. In the 2008/2009 season he rejoined the Gewandhausorchetser in Leipzig.

He has also performed as solo oboe in orchestras such as HR Radio-Simfonie-Orchester Frankfurt, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, Symphonica Toscanini, Orquesta de Córdoba, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, etc.

From 2009 to 2012 he was part of the Palau de Les Arts Orchestra, conducted by Lorin Maazel.

During the 2012-2013 season he was solo oboe with the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio of Turin (opera orchestra), conducted by Gianandrea Noseda.
