Multi-instrumentalist and teacher
Multi-instrumentalist musician who adopts as main instruments the trombone and percussion as well as the trumpet. He has studied, among others, with musicians of the stature of the trombonist Conrad Herwig, the trumpeter Michael Philippe Mossman and the percussionist Paoli Mejías.
He has performed and/or recorded with prominent musicians and/or groups of the international jazz and Latin jazz scene such as: Mingus Big Band, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Jane Lee, Mike P. Mossman, Ximo Tebar, Ramón Cardo Big Band, Perico Sambeat Flamenco Big Band, Cordoba Symphony Orchestra, Teatre Lliure Chamber Orchestra, Hot Clube Lisboa Big Band, Giovanni Hidalgo, Wycliffe Gordon, Marshall Gilkes…
In other areas of music, pop and world music, he has collaborated and/or recorded with artists such as: Andrea Bocelli, Alejandro Sanz, Alicia Keys, David Foster, Pablo Alborán, Jorge Drexler, Niña Pastori, Presuntos Implicados, etc.
His debut album The Journey recorded at Systems Two Brooklyn with Luis Perdomo, Henry Cole, Luques Curtis, Perico Sambeat, Javier Colina, was selected by the American-Canadian magazine LatinJazzNet as one of the best albums of 2013.
He is currently a professor of advanced trombone studies at Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory, Musikene (Higher Center for Musical Studies of the Basque Country), ESMUC in Barcelona, and ESMAR in Valencia.
Carlos Martín is an international artist for the Remo percussion brand and the Fides trombone and trumpet brand.
